2017 Audi S5

It's been nine years since the last complete upgrade of the Audi S5, and for any other car that would be a long time. But the truth is the new S5 hasn't needed an update in all this time. It's every bit as much a leading sport coupe today as it was nearly a decade ago. It offers timeless design and a true luxury experience in terms of performance and comfort.

Trim Levels and Options

The 2017 Audi S5 is a luxury sports coupe which seats four and comes in both hardtop and convertible configurations. At the base level you get performance wheels and tires, LED foglights and daytime running lights, automatic xenon headlights, automatic wipers, auto-dim heated mirrors, Cruise control, keyless ignition and entry, and various driver modes.

You also get leather and faux suede upholstery, which is premium leather on the convertible, tri-zone automatic climate control. Heated and power-adjust (16-way) front seats with driver memory settings, ambient lighting, Bluetooth connectivity, universal garage door opener, and the Audi MMI infotainment system with 14-speaker premium audio by Bang & Olufsen, including satellite radio, iPod integration and SD card reader.

You can opt for options like larger wheels, sport differential and active suspension system, and add a Technology package which gives you blind spot monitoring, adaptive headlights, rear parking sensors, GPS navigation including voice commands, rearview camera, Google Maps, HD radio, DVD player and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Performance

The base engine on the S5 is a 3.0-liter supercharged V6, which puts out 333hp, 325 lb-ft of torque driven by a 6-speed manual transmission. You can opt for a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which comes standard on the convertibles. It also comes standard with AWD, made even more effective if you opt for the sport differential to automatically distribute torque to give superior cornering control.

Comfort and Ride

The new Audi S5 delivers a superior experience in terms of driving and riding alike. Inside, the cabin is solidly constructed with ample room for driver and passengers alike. The new suspension completely mitigates vibrations, road bumps and jarring, and the cabin is surprisingly serene with outstanding noise canceling. The controls are easy to reach and use, and the handling is athletic and agile.
